Building Coldrex’s brand mascot into a powerful King of Cold campaign platform
Coldrex needed a refreshed campaign look that could build on the equity of its “King of Cold” brand mascot and bring it into a more modern, ownable world. Harnessing AI as a creative acceleration tool, ALL Creative developed a bold key visual system that put the character centre stage: stronger, more contemporary and more clearly connected to the product promise.
The result was a flexible campaign platform that made Coldrex feel powerful, recognisable and distinctive across its active international cold and flu markets.
The challenge
Coldrex is a familiar name in cold and flu relief across its active international markets, but the campaign needed to work harder than simple symptom messaging. The task was to build on the brand’s existing mascot equity and give the character a stronger role within the visual world.
The creative needed to communicate multi-symptom relief, strength and fast-acting reassurance in a way that felt clear, memorable and immediately ownable. It also needed to flex across different product formats, claims and audience needs while keeping Coldrex consistently recognisable.
Strategic response
We focused on elevating the Coldrex character from a supporting brand device into the powerful central figure of the campaign. By putting the mascot on a pedestal and aligning him more closely with the “King of Cold” idea, we created a simple visual shorthand for confidence, protection and relief.
Rather than reinventing the brand world, we built on its existing equity. The strategy was to make the character feel more heroic, more modern and more emotionally relevant, while giving the product benefit a setting that consumers could instantly understand.
Creative solution
We used AI intelligently within the creative process to explore, refine and produce a suite of key visuals with speed, control and consistency. This allowed us to craft a more contemporary Coldrex world while keeping the brand’s distinctive cues intact.
The hero visual brings the modernised mascot together with strong pack presence, bold Coldrex blue, high-impact typography, warm product cues and a relatable in-bed relief moment. The scene makes the benefit feel immediate: Coldrex as the reassuring strength beside you when cold and flu symptoms take over.
The final system gives the brand a distinctive, variant-ready visual platform that balances functional clarity with a stronger emotional role for the “King of Cold”.
